Company History
CEVA Logistics is the world's largest pure play contract logistics provider. Our origins are with TNT, which was founded in Australia in 1946. At the end of 2005 TNT announced its intention to sell its contract logistics activities as the result of a revised strategic focus.
In the autumn of 2006 TNT Logistics was sold to affiliates of Apollo Management L.P. TNT Logistics was rebranded CEVA Logistics in December 2006.
From Pallet Cage to Pallecon
In 1977 TNT acquired McPherson Hiring Pty Ltd based in Melbourne, Australia and entered the Pallet Rental Market in Australia. In 1978 TNT then licensed a de-mountable module pallet cage design and introduced container rental for the first time.
In 1981 the first Pallecon de-mountable container was developed for improved security and use for the packaging and transportation of dry bulk materials. TNT Materials Handling was then established in the United Kingdom offering cage and Pallecon rental.
In 1983 a new Pallecon was developed for use with bulk liquid products, the world's first 1000 Litre bag-in-box de-mountable container system and in 1989 the first Food Grade Pallecon was introduced specifically for the UK market.
In 1990 the Pallecon hire service was expanded from the UK to the rest of Europe through a network of depots in the Netherlands, Germany, France and Belgium. Further depots were established in Italy and Spain in 2002.
In 1995 TNT Flexsol was established to manufacture liquid liner bags for use with the Pallecon range and became Europe's largest 1000 Litre liquid liner manufacturer.
The TNT Magnum was launched in the UK in 1996.
The third generation of Pallecon was developed in 1998 called the Pallecon Autoflow. In 1999 the Autoflow gained worldwide recognition, winning numerous design and packaging awards.
Finally in 2005 in conjunction with Schoeller Arca Systems the Pallecon Ultra liquid IBC was developed and added to the container portfolio. This was the world's first fully folding 1000 litre liquid IBC manufactured entirely from injection moulded polypropylene.
